Abstract
Socially responsible human resource
management is a facet of corporate social responsibility that focuses on the
welfare of employees within an organization. The growing recognition of
socially responsible human resource management has resulted in a surge of
research highlighting its favorable impact on employee performance.
Nevertheless, there remains a scarcity of empirical studies addressing socially
responsible human resource management within emerging economies. This conceptual paper
introduces a framework aimed at investigating the mediating role of
psychological contract violation in the relationship between socially
responsible human resource management and turnover intention among teachers
employed by Private Secondary Schools in Katsina State. The paper presents two
hypotheses: socially responsible human resource management is positively
related to employee turnover intention; psychological contract violation
mediates the relationship between socially responsible human resource
management and employee turnover intention. This can guide future research
efforts which should consider utilizing either a cross-sectional or
longitudinal approach to draw conclusive evidence regarding how the independent
variable directly and indirectly influences the dependent variable.
