Abstract
This study
evaluated academic staff performance in Nigerian universities, focusing on
Federal University Gusau (FUGUS) and BAZE University Abuja. The study's
specific goal is to assess the performance of Academic Staff at Nigerian
Universities in Teaching and Research. A desk research approach was used in the
study. Data was generated using secondary data by utilizing some selected staff
CVs. The data gathered was descriptively analyzed, and the results revealed
that academic staff at private institutions had done much better than their
counterparts at public universities over the years. It was suggested, among
other things, that university recruiting be based on merit, that staff growth
and training be prioritized, and that public information be made available.
