Impact of UNICEF Vaccine Provision on Primary Healthcare in Tafa and Suleja Local Government Areas of Niger (2015-2022)

    Abstract

    The study is on the Impact of UNICEF Vaccine Provision on Primary Healthcare in Tafa and Suleja Local Government Areas of Niger State. Primary Health Care in Tafa and Suleja Local Government Area is confronted with issues of non-compliance and rejection toward Routine Immunization and Supplemental Immunization Activities (SIA), and also missed children during supplemental immunization activities. The specific objectives were: To determine how UNICEF Vaccine provision has improved Primary Health Care Services in Tafa and Suleja Local Government Areas of Niger State, the data for the study was collected from both primary and secondary sources. The primary sources of data that was used for this study are administration of questionnaire; observation and the conduct of in-depth interview to elicit respondent opinion on the Impact of UNICEF Vaccine Provision on Primary Healthcare in Tafa and Suleja Local Government Areas of Niger State remain the sources of primary data for this study. While the secondary sources of information for this research are textbook, newspaper, government gazettes, seminar papers, articles and report from the PHC sector in the state. Information from dissertations, theses, estimated store received and store issued voucher, medical records, Monitoring and Evaluation, register and staff inventory were also used. The demographic data and the descriptive statistics of the study was conducted through the aid of tables and simple percentages, while the hypotheses of the study were analysed through the aid of Multiple Regression. The major findings of the study revealed that: that there is usually shortage of vaccines during immunization activities in Suleja and Tafa. The study recommended that, UNICEF should ensure adequate provision of vaccines to improve healthcare service in Tafa and Suleja Local Governent Areas of Niger State.
