Abstract
The study examined the mediating role of
job satisfaction on the relationship between training and development and
employees’ performance. A survey research design, which is cross–sectional in
nature, was used, and primary data were gathered from 383 employees through the
use of the questionnaire. Partial Least Squares (PLS) 3 was used to analyse the
data. Resourced-based view theory was used to underpin the study. Findings from
the study revealed that training and development (p < 0.001), have a positive
and significant relationship with employee performance. The mediating result
revealed that job satisfaction significantly mediates the relationship between
training and development and employees’ performance (p < 0.001). The study
recommends that management should place more emphasis on key human resource
management practices such a training and development for outstanding employees’
performance.
