Effect of School Feeding Programme on Pupils Academic Performance in Public Primary Schools of Kaduna State

    Abstract

    The study assessed the effect of School Feeding Programme on Pupils Academic Performance in Public Primary Schools of Kaduna State. The objective of the study is to investigate the effect of School Feeding Programme on Academic Performance rate of the Pupils inGiwa, Kauru and Zaria Local Government Areas of Kaduna State. The population of the study is 361,302 from which 384 were sampled using Krejcie & Morgan table. The study adopted survey research design and obtain its data from primary and secondary sources. The instruments of the primary data collection utilized was Questionnaire. The Questionnaires were administered to the respondents. Respondents were selected using a Cluster and simple random sampling techniques. Simple Linear Regression analysis was used in testing the hypotheses. Both descriptive and inferential statistical tools were used in presenting and analysing the data obtained from the field. Findings of the study showed that the mode of serving food is time consuming, which often affect some class periods and consequently may affect their academic performance.  It was therefore recommended among other things that the government should increase the number of vendors so that the time for sharing food will be simplified and not time consuming.
